Board Meeting Review - Feb. 11, 2010

ILLINOIS VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
REGULAR MEETING

February 11,  2010
7:00 PM

Illinois Valley Fire District Administrative Office
681 Caves Highway
Cave Junction OR  97523

REVIEW:

Chief is back from a much needed vacation – and life at the Fire Stations goes forward.  The “Sleeper Program” was initiated last month.  Response times are starting to come down.  Once the “kinks” have been worked out – we are convinced this program will be a great asset to our Valley residents and our emergency response criteria.

We continue to have hope regarding an application for a grant that we applied for. Specifically, the grant would provide new SCBA’s (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) for our firefighters.  Our current SCBA’s will begin to expire over the next three years.  If our district is approved for this grant – it would help ensure the safety of our firefighters. Additionally, the purchase of the new breathing equipment will make our district compatible with the equipment from our neighboring communities.

•    Our firefighting students are more then half way through the academy, and still going strong.
•    Seven properties were annexed into the District.
•    Budget Committee needs one more “community” volunteer.
•    Budget Resolutions were passed.
•    Possible Fee schedule for inspections services to be reviewed.

And once again, the board meeting ended with a great presentation of the
district’s “Month in Review” video.  (Dale Sandberg does a fantastic job!)  We welcome visitors and residents to join us… Next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2010.
